Helping Children with Loss (HCWL) is the name of the four-session program that teaches the principles included in the book When Children Grieve.

This program is NOT for children directly, but rather for the adults who care for or work with children/youth who experience grief. These include parents, family members, teachers, youth workers, early childcare professionals, teachers, administrators, or faith workers whose primary population is children/youth.

The program briefly discusses the common myths of grieving, STERBS, Academy Award Recovery, and the importance of completion. The primary tool used in this program is the Emotional Energy Check List. The program concludes by discussing the Recovery Components and how to help the children/youth find and deliver their completion statements.
